How to edit a PDF in your browser
Editing a PDF used to mean installing heavy desktop software. With PDF Free Edit, you can change text, erase content, insert images, merge files, and sign documents directly in your browser — no installs, no uploads to a server you don't control.
1. Open your PDF
Head to the PDF Free Edit homepage and drop your file into the dropzone. Your PDF is processed locally in the browser — it never leaves your device unless you sign in to save it to your private library.
2. Add or replace text
Open the Edit tool, pick the "Text" option, and click anywhere on the page to type. To replace existing text, use the "Erase" option to whiteout a region first, then drop new text on top.
3. Insert images and signatures
Use the Edit tool's image option to place logos, photos, or stamps. For signatures, the Sign tool lets you draw your name with a mouse or trackpad and drop it onto any page.
4. Reorder, rotate, or remove pages
The Organize tool gives you a visual grid of every page. Drag to reorder, click to rotate, or remove pages you don't need.
5. Merge or split files
Combine multiple PDFs into one with Merge, or break a single document into smaller files by page range with Split. Both work entirely in your browser.
6. Download the result
When you're done, download the edited PDF. If you're signed in, the file is also saved to your private library so you can come back to it later.
Why edit PDFs in the browser?
- No installation — works on any modern desktop or laptop.
- Private by default — files are processed locally, not uploaded to a third party.
- Faster than launching a heavyweight desktop editor for a small change.
